Hot Desk Booking and Hybrid Work: The PwC Future of Work Survey

As many businesses switch to a hybrid work model, the PwC Future of Work and Skills Survey has shined a light on the challenges businesses could face when embracing emerging technologies.

Automation Risks

The survey conducted on business and HR leaders from across the world released just last week highlighted a lack of understanding about the risks of automation. Whilst the COVID-19 pandemic has acted as a catalyst in the timeline once imagined to be available for businesses to adapt.

Hybrid Work Success

Despite this, PwC state the survey results suggest that remote or hybrid work has had a positive effect on productivity levels in most workplaces.

“57% of respondents said their organisation performed better against workforce performance and productivity targets over the past 12 months.” (PwC, 2021)

The survey also highlighted a gap between the work place employees require and the work environment they found themselves currently in during the pandemic. This could raise questions about whether adequate resources have been given to help businesses create and manage a safe and productive work environment for their employees.

Bank of Ireland's Hybrid Work Model

Many corporate companies have adapted well to a flexible hybrid work model as the pandemic has developed. For example, Bank of Ireland have launched a new hybrid working model to offer employees an increased choice of location and reduce time and money spent on commuting, by expanding their remote working hubs further into more rural areas.

To help employees adjust to remote work, virtual exercise classes, virtual concerts and comedy evenings were offered to keep employees spirits up and encourage unwinding at home after a work day for those working from home during the day.
